Graduated in 2016

Silence Falls

  • Real Name:

    Austin
  • Years on the team:

    4
  • His version:

I sat on a fail desk and fell off without making a sound. This was in my freshman year. I managed to fall from chairs and desks many times after that initial time as well, living up to my name.
  • Coach's version:

This was the first Dr. Who inspired name on the team. I'm not sure why there were so many Batman themed names, I like Batman but was never that fanatical of a fan. As for Dr. Who, I was definitely not a fan. They were at best cheesy, and at worst... well... worst. That was until several Whovians (as in Dr. Who fans, we're geeks after all) joined the team and got me into the reboot series. Austin was also a Whovian so it was only fitting that he get the first Dr. Who name. And yes, he did fall on his backside through the desk. And yes, he made no sound when doing it. And yes, it happened many more times just like that throughout the 4 years he was on the team.

The Penguin

  • Real Name:

    Shelby
  • Years on the team:

    4
  • Her version:

    -Has not given one-
  • Coach's version:

Ok, it sounds like yet another Batman reference. But in this case any relation to the short umbrella carrying villain is purely coincidental. This came from Shelby going out of the room, in the rain, in the middle of the night, and bouncing up and down flapping her arms awkwardly. Cold, wet, and flapping wings that don't fly... just like a penguin!

Missed Direction

  • Real Name:

    Stephanos
  • Years on the team:

    3
  • His version:

I was drilling in reverse for 15 minutes. LOL XD
  • Coach's version:

It was more like 20 minutes, and it would have been longer if I hadn't noticed that he had been drilling the same piece of aluminum for a whole 20 minutes. And we're not talking about a plate here, it was an aluminum tube and the aluminum was only 1/16 of an inch thick. He could have chewed through it faster than 20 minutes! Then I noticed, and after fixing his drill I fixed his new team name as well.

Queenie

  • Real Name:

    Sadee
  • Years on the team:

    3
  • Her version:

    -Has not given one-
  • Coach's version:

Upon finding a rod with a block attached to the top and painted gold, Sadee began walking around the room with it carrying it like a scepter. That wasn't enough to get her named, but when she talked about herself in the third person and started using the royal we, that got her landed with Queenie.

Angry Bunny

  • Real Name:

    Lindsay
  • Years on the team:

    3
  • Her version:

    -Has not given one-
  • Coach's version:

One day, she drew this angry looking bunny on the board. It also helped that Lindsay usually had an angry don't -BLANK- me look on her face.

Sticker Meister

  • Real Name:

    Ian
  • Years on the team:

    3
  • His version:

    -Has not given one-
  • Coach's version:

I walked in thew room and Ian had the leftover part from a sheet of stickers pasted to his face. I might have been watching the anime "Soul Eater" at the time too.

Munchkin

  • Real Name:

    Zoe
  • Years on the team:

    6
  • Her version:

    -Has not given one-
  • Coach's version:

Zoe joined the team with her friend when she was in 7th grade. They were quite small, way under 5 feet tall, at the time to the point that people started calling them the munchkins. One day, the team captain yelled out, "Munchkin!" and Zoe came running. That sealed her name. Now, we try not to name middle school members before they get to high school because a lot of time the name no longer applies when they get older. That sort of happened in Zoe's case, but the name became so wrong that it made her name even funnier... by the time she graduated, "Munchkin" was 6 feet tall.

Tweety

  • Real Name:

    Alyssa
  • Years on the team:

    4 (Missed Senior Year)
  • Her version:

    -Has not given one-
  • Coach's version:

In 2012, the center of the robot was a tall box tower cage to hold the basketballs for scoring after sweeping them off the floor. The first version was made of PVC pipe. After we decided it was too bulky we made a new one out of aluminum. However the PVC one wasn't taken apart right away, it looked like a tall cage, and Alyssa liked sitting in it. In fact she got mad when we did take it apart. Now I know of only one character that actually perferred to sit in a cage. Named for the classic Warner Brother's Loony Toons cartoon universe, she became "Tweety".
